Overview

Editing isn’t one size fits all. A lot of independent authors routinely think their manuscript just needs a proofread because they’ve written and revised it at least once. This isn’t how editing works and I won’t know the type of editing you need until I see a sample of your manuscript that’s at least four pages long, or the whole thing. After I’ve seen your manuscript, and read a few pages in different sections, I can confidently talk about the type of editing you need and explain how I can help.

I have sixteen years of editing experience and offer manuscript evaluations, copyediting, and proofreading for adult fiction and nonfiction, as well as for children’s books—both fiction and nonfiction. I’ve edited two award winning trade books. I discuss three phases of editing—manuscript evaluations, copyediting, and proofreading—on the next few pages.

Don’t be surprised if my discussion and explanation is a little different from what you’ve seen or read on the websites of other editors. Editors aren’t one size fits all either. We do the same job, editing, but we explain our services in different ways and have different strengths, just as writers do. You need to find the editor who’s right for you. I’d love to talk to you and show you how I can help.

If you have any questions, please fill out the Contact Info form and send it to me. I’d be happy to answer them. Then we can talk about your manuscript and how I can help you.

Warmly,
Cassie
